Information We Collect
Eriol is designed to collect the minimum amount of data necessary to provide our services. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a securely hashed version of your password. If you sign in through Google OAuth, we receive your email address, display name, and profile picture from Google — we do not receive or store your Google password. We also collect anonymized application usage data, such as feature usage frequency and session duration, to help us understand how our tools are being used and where we can improve.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Authentication and account management — Your email and credentials are used to identify you, manage your sessions, and secure your account through features like two-factor authentication (2FA).
- Service delivery — We use your account information to provide and personalize the Eriol experience, including managing your subscription plan, team invitations, and device sessions.
- Communication — We may use your email address to send transactional messages such as password resets, security alerts, and account notifications. We do not send marketing emails without your consent.
- Improvement — Anonymized usage data helps us identify bugs, improve features, and optimize performance.
Use of Microsoft Clarity
We use Microsoft Clarity on our marketing website to understand how visitors interact with our pages. Clarity provides behavioral analytics including heatmaps, scroll depth tracking, and session replays that help us improve the user experience. This service uses both first-party and third-party cookies to collect data such as page views, mouse movements, clicks, and scroll behavior. Clarity does not capture sensitive input fields such as passwords or payment information. The data collected by Microsoft Clarity is processed in accordance with Microsoft's privacy policy. You can opt out of Clarity tracking by adjusting your browser's cookie settings or using a browser extension that blocks analytics scripts.
Local Storage
All streaming recordings and related media files are stored locally on your device. Eriol does not upload, transfer, or store your streaming content on any external server unless you explicitly choose to do so. Your recordings remain entirely under your control, stored in a directory you configure within the application. This local-first approach means your content is never at risk of being accessed, analyzed, or deleted by a third party. If you choose to use Eriol's optional cloud or self-hosted server features, any data transferred is sent only to infrastructure you have explicitly configured.
Security
We implement multiple layers of security to protect your data and your privacy:
- Local storage first — Your streaming recordings and media files are stored on your device by default, reducing the attack surface by keeping sensitive content off remote servers.
- Encrypted connections (TLS 1.3) — All communication between the Eriol application, our API, and any configured servers is encrypted using TLS 1.3, ensuring data in transit cannot be intercepted or tampered with.
- Secure authentication — Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms and are never stored in plain text. We support two-factor authentication (TOTP) for an additional layer of account protection, and Google OAuth for passwordless sign-in.
- Minimal data collection — By collecting only what is strictly necessary, we limit the potential impact of any security incident. Data that does not exist cannot be compromised.
- Regular security updates — We continuously monitor for vulnerabilities in our dependencies and infrastructure, and we release security patches promptly when issues are identified.
Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal information we hold about you. Because Eriol collects minimal data by design, exercising these rights is straightforward. You can request a copy of the data associated with your account, ask us to correct any inaccurate information, or request complete deletion of your account and all associated data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@eriol.io and we will respond within 30 days. If you are located in the European Economic Area, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and post the revised policy on our website. For significant changes that materially affect how we handle your data, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you through the application or via our public communication channels. We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.
